A difference in their crystalline structure in conjunction with its properties makes it an alloy
that is strong, tough, and corrosion-resistant, especially if compared to low alloy steels or
regular carbon steels. Generally, classes like austenitic type prove to be ideal in the
fashioning of Stainless Steel Threaded Fasteners & automotive nut bolt. It is because these
alloy classes are highly ductile or pliable and can be formed easily by various operations.
While martensitic and ferritic steels have good creep strength and hardness properties.
Furthermore, after being furnished with different heat treatment processes, these Stainless
Steel Bolt Nut could be used at an elevated temperature. Their use is not limited to only
ambient or high-temperature settings, but also in cryogenic applications. These SS Fasteners can
be Coated, Coloured or Polished.
Weldability is a property that differs to a certain degree in each Stainless Steel Bolt. Some
alloys may have good weldability, while others may not be favourable to weld. In the instance of
the former alloys, the welded area may be susceptible to grain boundary precipitates and is more
likely to undergo corrosion. To prevent this from occurring, the chemistry for an austenitic
alloy grade; for instance, SS 304 Bolt is modified by lowering the content of carbon in the
metal. This new grade has the letter L added to its name. So the new metal grade would read
alloy 304L, where the letter L is indicative of lower carbon content. However, the modified
chemistry does not meet the mechanical properties as the original alloy. Therefore, when the
metal is alloyed, nitrogen is combined to its chemistry, thus giving the modified grade 304L
metric stainless steel fasteners mechanical properties practically similar to that of the parent
SS 304 Fasteners.
In heat-resisting steel grades such as alloy 321 Stainless Steel Nut Bolt, the metal would have
stabilizers in the place of either titanium or columbium added to its chemistry. These
stabilizers are why the fore mentioned fastener is well suited for use at elevated temperatures.
So you can call them as high strength stainless steel bolts or high tensile stainless steel
fasteners. Don't forget to ask MTC from your SS Nut Bolt manufacturers in Mumbai, it will help
you to choose genuine material for fixing.
